Why I"s

I'm sure most of you who don't know this title are scratching your head wondering why I like it so much. Heck, most of you who do know the title are still wondering probbaly.

To put it simply, I"s touched me. Let me give you a little background on me first, to make it easier to understand. I've always been bad around girls. I never asked out a girl until I was in high school, and then was denied. It wasn't until I was 18 (this was after reading I"s mind you) that I finally got a girlfriend.

I had a subscription to the US edition of Shonen Jump, where they often give chapter previews of manga not running in the magazine. One month, they showcased about the first half of Chapter 1 of I"s. I read just about anything in the magazine, so of course I gave it a look. I liked what I read, but it slipped off my radar more or less.

Fast forward to a few years later, and I was led to this manga site called OneManga. I was giving it a look-over, wanting to read something I might not otherwise read for a long time, and stumbled across the title again. Over the next month or so, I read the entire series on there. It was so addictive that I ended up staying up until 2 or 3 in the morning a lot of times just to get to a good stopping place. The characters, the story, the romantic comedy, it all grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go.

By the time I was done, I wanted to strangle Ichitaka, but not as bad as most seem to. That's because I came to a realization along the way - I identify greatly with Ichitaka. I can be just as stupid and dense as him, and my luck with women was about the same. Er, save for I didn't have blatant fan-service all around me.

I now own all of the manga, all of the OVAs (and have even watched them subbed and dubbed both), and I've watched gameplay of the video game. It's never enough though, as I strive harder and harder to find more about the series. I don't want to brag, but as far as I know, I'm the authority on all things I"s, and so, I've made this site to help spread the love and my knowledge.
